Revolution is the age that technologies were getting wide spread. So was the

makes many parts of society began to change in the 1800s as machine-led
industries became widespread. Economies, lifestyles and work place clothing

Make cloth by using pattern. This age, clothing was much developed. This essay
will analyze clothing of Industrial Revolution age by using 3 principles of
design; which are material, contrast, and repetition.
First is material, as the
technologies are much developed, makes material developed too. During the time, textile
industries were expanded. Therefore, the quality of clothes was rapidly
developed. At the same time, there was a marked expansion in the production of
the raw materials, especially the wool from merino sheep. It was developed in
Europe and was introduced into the America and Australia. Materials this age were light in weight and color;
organdy, unbleached batiste, barege, and embroidered muslin were the favorites,
but with the influence of the romantic and the return to mediaeval fashions,
materials became heavier, such as velvet, damask, and brocades and variegated
silks.
Second is contrast. Compare
this age clothing and the period before which is Renaissance, people this age
care about dressing more. People began to dress differently in different time.
They have travel dress which is not a dress that long to the ground but a
shorter skirt that comfortable to walk with. Also that kind of costume was for
riding horse too. They have evening costume, which has more decoration. This
time as the fact that costume were made of machine and material also made of
machine, make the material is cheaper, enabling poor people to wear work clothes
instead of rags and the middle class to indulge itself with fashion. The rich
were no longer content with mere quality; the beauty and ornamentation of
clothing became more extravagant. As lace was easily fabricated, it became more
common as well.
Last is repetition. We will talk about repetition in woman
costume. The repetition of the layer of fabric as you can see in the picture.
That time, fashion is interest in woman that has hourglass body shape. The
dress this period, the way of adding layer to the skirt is very popular.
